"Filters" settings

Visual Comparer allows you to specify what syntax highlight parser has to be used for one or another file depending on its extension. For convenience extension of files are united in groups. Visual Comparer considers them as Filters. Every filter has the name and associated with it syntax highlight parser. You can edit, delete and create new filters.

Let's describe each step in details:

To create new - press on the button of new filter creation. In the list of existing filters new record with a name "New filter" will appear. Change a name of the filter as required. In section Description into an input field of Wild cards enter through a semicolon the necessary extension of files in the form - *.ext where ext is an extension of a file. For example for filter Visual Basis the list of extension can look like so - *.bas; *.vb. From Parser list choose corresponding entered extension syntax highlight parser.

To remove existing - for removal of the filter from the list allocate the necessary filter and simply press on removal button. If you want to block the filter temporarily without deleting it, simply choose a pseudoparser with a name <none> in Parser list.

To change the sequence order - the filters sequence order in the list is important, as it is used in file choice (menu File->Compare files). If you compare files of one group frequently, you can place the required filter at the beginning in filters list. After that file choice dialogue will automatically at start offer you to choose the files on a mask from this filter.

To edit existing - - you can always change options of any filter. To change a name of the filter click twice on the filter name in the filters list. By editing a name it is not necessary to enter file extension. Extension of files are entered in Wild cards field. Display of file extension for each filter is made for convenient using of filters options dialogue.
